In just 10 exciting weeks, students dive headfirst into the world of musical theater! From the very first rehearsal, performers will sing, dance, and act their way toward the stage, building skills, confidence, and unforgettable memories along the way.

Rehearsals take place Fridays from 4–6:30 PM, with additional sectional rehearsals on Fridays and select Saturdays—all leading up to three amazing performances of Matilda JR this November!

Show Description 
Matilda, a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers, lives with cruel parents who find her to be a nuisance, a lousy little worm, and a bore. When Matilda enters her first term at school, she captures the attention of Miss Honey, a kind teacher, and the two form a wonderful friendship. Unfortunately, the school is ruled by a tempestuous and mean headmistress named Miss Trunchbull, who hates children and delivers cruel and unjust punishments to all her charges. Matilda is determined to change her story, but will her cleverness and courage be enough to withstand the reign of Miss Trunchbull?

AUDITION INFORMATION

Each audition block will last one hour, split between individual vocals and group acting and dance auditions. For the vocal audition, you will be asked to choose and prepare an audition cut from selections provided by directors. The acting audition will include reading sides. You will also learn a short dance combination that will be taught at the audition. If needed, we will hold callbacks with a smaller group to have them sing and read additional sides. Auditioners will be notified if they are being asked to a callback, after their audition.

Everyone can sing! Learn the fundamentals of singing including posture, breathing, vowel shaping, voice registration, and communicating through song. Whether you are a beginner or are looking to brush up your skills, group voice class will provide the tools for healthy and beautiful singing within a fun and supportive environment.

Make a joyful noise! Wharton Arts announces the return of its CAFÉ (Creative Aging for Everyone) Choir. Wharton Arts faculty will work with participants for eight weeks, during which the choir will learn several songs with piano accompaniment in preparation for a final concert at the Wharton Black Box Theater in Berkeley Heights. Join us and discover camaraderie, learn new skills or refine old ones, and simply have fun!

Imagine the soothing sound of the harp—now imagine possessing the magic to bring its voice to life! Whether you play another instrument or are ready to take your first step into the world of music, the harp is a gentle companion for all beginners. Taught in a supportive group environment, this introductory group harp class unites a beautiful instrument with a fun, social experience.

This class includes 13 sessions and a recital performance. Please defer to the instructor for the exact dates for this class.
