Theater Explorers (Harry Potter)

December 4, 2024

Theater Explorers introduces campers to musical theater in a fun weekly camp. From 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. each day, campers work together to rehearse a showcase based on the theme of each week. In the afternoon hours, campers enjoy guest artist workshops in voice, acting, dance, stage combat, and more from our talented Wharton Faculty. Mondays through Thursdays, campers attend the YMCA Pool across the street from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. All campers stay in the afternoon on Friday for a final dress rehearsal. The week culminates with a fun showcase on Fridays at 5:00 p.m. for friends and family, featuring a song, dance, and scenes from camp!

Broadway Adventures is perfect for the budding young actor! Campers will learn about and explore the world of Broadway in this one week camp. Friends and family are invited to a fun filled showcase at the end of the week featuring our youngest triple threat campers acting, singing, and dancing!

Meet the Instruments will develop your child’s first instrument…themselves! Through their voices and bodies, campers will explore song, dance, rhythm, art, stories, and dramatic musical play. Each day, your child will learn about a different family of instruments: Strings, Brass, Woodwinds, Piano, and Percussion.

Students work together to put on a unique production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest from start to finish in just two weeks, complete with costumes, props, and sets. This camp is perfect for the budding actor interested in learning about theater, the classics, and performance! Full-day campers enjoy guest artist workshops from Wharton Arts faculty and fun in the sun at the YMCA pool Monday to Thursday and Fun Fridays at PAS.

This two-week camp is designed to unleash the artist within with classes in movement, acting, and improvisation. From 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. campers learn about theater while preparing for a one-act play from start to finish. On the final day of camp, students will present Scooby Doo performed with costumes, scenery, and lights. Full-day campers enjoy guest artist workshops from Wharton Arts faculty and fun in the sun at the YMCA pool Monday to Thursday and Fun Fridays at PAS.

Summer Musical Theater Company is a fast-paced triple threat experience in just two weeks! Campers audition, rehearse, and prepare for two full length performances of You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown. Come and show us what you’ve got! Jazz shoes required.

Come and hone your skills in acting, singing, and dancing in this intensive camp! Campers audition, rehearse, and perform a production of High School Musical JR in just two weeks. Focus on developing triple threat skills and putting them on display in two showstopping performances at the end of camp. Jazz shoes required.

“Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. Cady and her friends devise a “Revenge Party” to end Regina’s reign with Cady going undercover as an aspiring Plastic. When the lines between the real Cady and her Plastic self get blurred, she must find her way back to herself and her true friends.”

Audition Dates:

January 7th from 5:30-9pm
January 8th from 6:30-9pm

Detailed audition materials will be provided to auditioning students in December.

AUDITION INFORMATION

Each audition block will last one hour, split between individual vocals and group acting and dance auditions. For the vocal audition, you will be asked to choose and prepare an audition cut from selections provided by directors. The acting audition will include reading sides. You will also learn a short dance combination that will be taught at the audition.
