The New Jersey Youth Symphony (NJYS) has a rich history of fostering musical talent for nearly 40 years. Each of its 15 ensembles and programs offers participants a different yet fully rounded experience. Opportunities exist for students depending on where they are in their musical studies, and what their interests are.
Our family of orchestras serve students ranging from 3rd to 12th grades with many students remaining part of the organization for as long as 10 years. NJYS is committed to providing the finest ensemble musical training led by our staff of experienced and renowned conductors, and is known for its high standard of excellence throughout the United States and internationally.
NJYS also provides an array of orchestral experiences including participation in Playathon, a massive performance spectacle held at The Mills at Jersey Gardens that features almost 500ensemble members performing together as one orchestra. Special performances include the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, NJPAC in Newark, and Carnegie Hall. The Youth Symphony (premiere ensemble) tours internationally every three years. During the summers of 2014 and 2017 YS won First Place at the prestigious Summa Cum Laude International Youth Festival and Competition in Vienna, Austria.
