“The Paterson Music Project (PMP) “Sing for Paterson” concert in December is an annual event where students perform to raise awareness and support local organizations. The idea and event originated with the NJYC “Kids for Kids” concert where they collaborated with PMP to raise funds for Oasis, an organization that supports women and children in Paterson. This has become a new annual tradition for PMP, now rebranded as “Sing for Paterson”. This season, the event was formatted as a caroling event at the Center City Mall with stations set up to collect donations. We chose to support CUMAC, an organization that fights food insecurity and provides basic necessities for those in need. PMP was able to raise over $350 in addition to collecting non-perishable food items and clothing.” – Shanna Lin, Director, Paterson Music Project
