The New Jersey Youth Chorus (NJYC) has a longstanding tradition of service through music, using the power of song to uplift others and support important causes. Through our Kids for Kids initiative, our choristers learn that their voices can make a real difference in the world. This season, we continue this tradition with two special benefit concerts that bring our mission to life.
On February 23, we will present Men That Matter at Morristown United Methodist Church, featuring our boys’ and young men’s ensembles—Coro Vivo and Camerata—alongside the Princeton Boychoir and “Choir Next Door.” This unique multigenerational event invites fathers, brothers, grandfathers, and mentors to join in song, celebrating the power of music to foster connection and support. All donations from this event will benefit Cornerstone Family Programs and Morristown Neighborhood House, specifically their Boyz to Men program, which provides middle school boys with mentorship, encouragement, and a safe space to grow into responsible young men.
On March 8, also at Morristown United Methodist Church, our girls’ and young women’s ensembles—Primo Coro, Sola Voce, and Coriste—will take the stage for Just Us Girls. Joined by NJYC alumni, this concert will raise funds for the Brooke Healey Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting families facing pediatric cancer, raising awareness, and funding research for Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a rare and aggressive childhood brain cancer. The foundation was established in honor of Brooke Healey, a courageous five-year-old who inspired her community before losing her battle with DIPG in 2013.
