2026 Wharton Players Auditions: Matilda JR

Auditions Dates:
September 4, 2026 5pm – 8pm
September 5, 2026 12pm – 3pm

Callbacks:
September 8, 2026 6pm – 8pm
September 9, 2026 6pm – 8pm

$25 (fee to be applied to cost of tuition upon enrollment)

Detailed audition materials will be sent to you once you have registered to audition and paid the audition fee.

AUDITION INFORMATION

Each audition block will last one hour, split between individual vocals and group acting and dance auditions. For the vocal audition, you will be asked to choose and prepare an audition cut from selections provided by directors. The acting audition will include reading sides. You will also learn a short dance combination that will be taught at the audition. If needed, we will hold callbacks with a smaller group to have them sing and read additional sides. Auditioners will be notified if they are being asked to a callback, after their audition.

“Matilda, a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers, lives with cruel parents who find her to be a nuisance, a lousy little worm, and a bore. When Matilda enters her first term at school, she captures the attention of Miss Honey, a kind teacher, and the two form a wonderful friendship. Unfortunately, the school is ruled by a tempestuous and mean headmistress named Miss Trunchbull, who hates children and delivers cruel and unjust punishments to all her charges. Matilda is determined to change her story, but will her cleverness and courage be enough to withstand the reign of Miss Trunchbull?
