Biography
Owen G. Davitt is a freelance musician, composer, and educator based in New Jersey. A graduate of Montclair State University with a BA in Music Education and an MA in Educational Leadership, he is an active performer and entrepreneur in the performing arts.
As a multi-instrumentalist, Owen has performed extensively at venues including Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden, and NJPAC, as well as internationally and throughout the United States. He is actively involved in several ensembles, serving as a recorder and early winds player for the LaFiocco Baroque ensemble, and as an oboist for the East Brunswick Symphony Orchestra and the New Jersey Opera Theater. He also serves on the board of and performs with the Plattsburgh Clarinet Choir and is an active low clarinet player throughout the region.
Owen is a fervent composer, specializing in works for solo and woodwind chamber groups. His compositions have been performed by prestigious ensembles such as Double Entendre, the National Youth Recorder Orchestra of Great Britain, Plattsburgh Clarinet Choir, Palisades Virtuosi, Uptown Flutes, and the BETA Quartet.
Owen is the proud co-owner and co-founder of the music publishing company D.S. Musiks. He also serves as Minister of Music and Organist at St. Matthew’s & St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Paramus, NJ, and maintains a private studio of woodwind students.
