She earned her B.F.A. in Dance Performance, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and completed her Master’s in PK–12 Dance Education from Rutgers University. During her time at Mason Gross School of the Arts, she served as an ambassador, received multiple scholarships for her choreography, and was elected undergraduate chair of the National Dance Education Organization’s Rutgers chapter.
Biography
Nia Imani Jackson is a versatile dancer and educator with training in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap, and Hip Hop. She earned her B.F.A. in Dance Performance, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and completed her Master’s in PK–12 Dance Education from Rutgers University. During her time at Mason Gross School of the Arts, she served as an ambassador, received multiple scholarships for her choreography, and was elected undergraduate chair of the National Dance Education Organization’s Rutgers chapter.
Nia has performed works by renowned choreographers including Sidra Bell, Camille A. Brown, Keith Thompson, Brian Brooks, and Summation Dance. She is also a member of The Wannabes hip-hop troupe, with recent performances in Los Angeles, Houston, and Boston.
Currently, Nia is the Dance Educator at Colonia Middle School, where she also serves as a school mentor and directs the CMS Dance Company. She has also choreographed musicals at Florence Gaudier Middle School, including Willy Wonka, Frozen, Moana, and Chicago Jr.
