Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Montclair State University, Master’s of Music in Vocal Performance with a concentration in pedagogy from the University of Tennessee. Additional training as resident/apprentice artist at Knoxville Opera Studio, Indianapolis Opera, Pittsburgh Festival Opera, Opera Idaho, Opera Naples, Central City Opera, and Cedar Rapids Opera.
Biography
Praised for their “rich sound” and “remarkable agility” (Brooklyn Daily Eagle), mezzo-soprano Corrie Lotito has been a resident artist at a number of professional opera companies across the country including Knoxville Opera, Indianapolis Opera, Pittsburgh Festival Opera, Opera Idaho, Opera Naples, Central City Opera, and Cedar Rapids Opera. They have performed and covered lead and supporting roles in both opera and musical theatre with a variety of professional opera companies including Opera Idaho, Druid City Opera, Black Sheep Contemporary Ensemble, Marble City Opera, Light Opera New Jersey, Opera Theater of Montclair, and others. Corrie has also soloed in concert repertoire with various musical organizations including the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Southwest Florida Symphony, Putnam Chorale, South Orange Symphony, Critical Mass, and Steeple Concerts.
A two-time regional finalist of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition winning the Idaho-Montana District in 2023 and the Indiana District in 2022, Corrie is a fierce vocal competitor and has also been a finalist of the Camerata Bardi International Vocal Competition, The Camille Coloratura Awards, and SAS Performing Arts Competition. Corrie also won an encouragement award from the Metropolitan Opera Tennessee District, The Gerda Lissner Competition, and a role prize from Piccola Opera’s Opera Idol Competition.
Corrie holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Montclair State University and Master of Music degree from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN, where they taught Class Voice for Non-Majors. They have given masterclasses and talks at Montclair State University, Brigham Young University-Idaho, University of Idaho, and Boise State University, as well as at several high schools and middle schools. Previously, Corrie co-led a singing class for clients in recovery from long-COVID symptoms with significant lung scarring or other COVID-19-related damage in conjunction with St. Luke’s Hospital in Boise, ID, focusing on using classical and musical theater voice techniques to strengthen breath support, control, and phonation.
