Christopher D’Amato

Primo Coro Accompanist

Christopher D’Amato is a New Jersey-based pianist and organist who serves as the Primo Coro Accompanist for the New Jersey Youth Chorus. He is also the Director of Music and Organist at St. Joseph Church in North Plainfield. He has performed at venues including Steinway Hall and Cary Hall in NYC and has studied and performed internationally in Athens, London, and Leipzig. His collaborative experience includes work with John Rutter, VOCES8, the New Jersey Symphony, Oxford Philharmonic, and the Athens Philharmonia Orchestra.

As a music educator, Christopher teaches in the Newark Public Schools as the PreK–8 music teacher at Chancellor Avenue School. He also maintains a private piano studio, teaching students locally as well as throughout the United States and internationally through virtual instruction.

Christopher holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and a Master of Arts in Teaching & Special Education from Montclair State University. He is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Music Education at Boston University, where his research focuses on global music pedagogy, African and African American vernacular music, and urban education and access.
