Education
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from Jacksonville University and both a Master’s degree and a Performance Diploma in Viola Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory. He is currently a member of the Cali Collective Ensemble at Montclair State University’s John J. Cali School of Music. Outside of music, Armando enjoys skateboarding through the city with friends, exploring nature trails, and sharing his passion as an avid movie reviewer.
Biography
Originally from Jacksonville Florida, Violist Armando Atanda is a performer of numerous specialities, extending from solo, chamber, orchestral, opera, musicals, and more forms of music. Currently within the New Jersey/New York area, he is an avid collaborator and musician within orchestras and groups within the great area. Armando’s artistry has been recognized through numerous accolades, including receiving first prize at the Kings Peak Music Competition, and prizes at both the Landon Classical Music Competition and the Marker Pioneer International Competition.
He has performed with many orchestras and professional ensembles, including the Adelphi Orchestra, San Francisco Ballet, Stockton Symphony, Modesto Symphony, Oakland Symphony, Golden Gate Symphony, Nicaragua Symphony at the Rubén Darío National Theatre, First Coast Opera, and the Civic Orchestra of Jacksonville. He also was a fellow for San Francisco Ballet and most recently for the Classical Lake Tahoe Music Festival.
