REPRESENTATION
“Representation in music means that different people, cultures, and experiences are included and valued. It’s about making sure everyone has a chance to see themselves reflected in the music they hear and play. Think about it this way: I’ve played piano for ten years and have been singing for eight.
Attending Wharton Arts since I was five, I didn’t always find music that matched my style or background. Discovering artists and songs that did represent me made me feel more connected and inspired. It pushed me to explore my own musical ideas and share them with others. When music includes a variety of voices, it becomes richer and more interesting. It helps us understand each other better and celebrates what makes us unique. It also encourages more people to get involved in music, knowing that their stories matter.”
