What do students need to bring to their first lesson?
Staff Paper, pencil with an eraser, any previously studied repertoire, and an idea of music that you would like to learn in the future
Learning Goals
Fundamental Concepts and Skills (Note-reading, Ear training, Finger Dexterity, Rhythm, Dynamics, Musicality), for those with prior piano experience I will also include sightreading
Supply List
For Beginners: Scale Book (Macaskill Visual Scales or Alfred’s Complete Book), Method Book (Either Faber Piano Adventures, Bastien Piano Basics), Schaum Notespeller (Book 1-2), Kjos Winning Rhythms and Kjos Master Theory Series; For more advanced students, additional repertoire will be chosen on a personalized basis. All students will require a staff paper notebook and pencil/eraser
Time Commitment
Complete Beginners: 4-5 days per week minimum of practice, all other students: daily practice, exact practice times depend on student age and level but generally complete beginners may expect to practice at least 15-20 minutes per practice session, other students may practice at least 30 minutes.
